Help with Fieldnote
Found a problem or have a question? Open an issue on GitHub. Please don't include recordings or transcripts.
Joining the beta
Install Apple's TestFlight app, then open the Fieldnote beta link on your iPhone. The beta has 25 places. Feedback sent from TestFlight (take a screenshot while using Fieldnote and choose Share Beta Feedback) reaches the developer; please leave out anything from your meetings.
Requirements
An iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16 or later, on iOS 27 with Apple Intelligence turned on. Fieldnote relies on Apple's on-device models, which need that hardware.
Common questions
Why are the notes still being written after I left the app?
The transcript and speakers finish in the background. Apple's on-device model limits how much it writes for apps in the background, so the notes finish when you open Fieldnote again, or while the phone is charging if you turn on “Finish notes while charging”. Fieldnote notifies you when they're ready.
How do I try a different model on a meeting I already have?
Choose the model in Settings, open the meeting and use Redo to run the transcript, speakers or summary again. If you've edited the transcript, Fieldnote asks first, since a new transcript replaces your edits.
Does Fieldnote work offline?
Yes. Recording, transcription, speakers and notes all work in Airplane Mode. Only optional model downloads and Apple Maps place names need a connection.
Can Siri read my notes?
Only if you turn on “Let Siri read meeting notes” in Fieldnote's Settings. Then you can ask, for example, “Action items from my last Fieldnote meeting”. See the privacy policy for what Siri receives.
How do I free up storage?
Delete meetings you no longer need, or remove downloaded models in Settings → Models. Fieldnote keeps working with Apple's built-in models.
Reporting a bug
Turn on Debug mode in Settings to see the activity log. It records what ran, how long it took and what failed. It's meant to leave out what was said, but an error message can include part of a meeting, so read the lines before you post them. Then report the bug on GitHub: the form asks for your Fieldnote version, iPhone and the log lines.
